Can KingBrand products repair a complete tear
« on: May 29, 2013, 08:40:06 AM »
MRI RESULTS OF 5/18/2013 ::Significant acromioclavicular  joint degenerative changes are present. There is a complete thickness tear scene involving the supraspinatus tendon. There is a defect that measures approximate 12 x 19 mm. A small shoulder effusion is seen along with the small subacromial bursal collection. There is a normal appearance of the bicipital tendon. The tendon is quite small in caliber, although it does lie in the bicipital groove. Please Help. I would like to avoid surgery if possible.

Hi Mikeyz,

Thanks for your post.

Our ColdCure shoulder products would help with any pain and swelling that has surfaced due to the damage. However with a "Complete Thickness Tear," you should be consulting your doctor about surgery. Our BFST Shoulder products will help heal torn ligaments, tendons and soft tissue, but when dealing with a complete tear or rupture, you should be seeking consultation of your doctor. If you do decide to go with surgery, our BFST and ColdCure products are a great post-surgery treatment.

If you have any more questions, or need more information, do not hesitate to call our Customer Service Team, toll free at 1-877-661-5239, we are here 8am-Midnight (EST), 7 days a week.

I would like to reiterate that for people with a complete tear, surgery is required.  The two ends of the torn tendon will not be able to reach out and rejoin without the aid of surgery.

In the case of a partial tear, the body will start to stitch back together beginning at the point where the two ends of the tendon are still connected.  Depending on the severity of the tear, this is more or less feasible.  Your surgeon will give you the best assessment.

Even if you have surgery, afterwards, ColdCure products are excellent tools to reduce the pain and swelling.  As well, just because the Dr. has stitched your tendon back together, it still has an incredible amount of healing to do.  After surgery, BFST treatments are very valuable to aid the healing process.

The surgery is just the start of the solution.  The stitches will not hold your tendon together.  The tissue has to grow back together and this is exactly the type of growth that BFST serves to promote.  After surgery your tissue can heal poorly or well.  Take care of your injury and help it heal as well as possible to get back as much strength and flexibility as you can and to reduce the possibility of further problems down the road.

If you are having surgery, BFST and ColdCure products are ideal for you!

Do you think I can avoid Surgery with your product. I am not in constant pain and do not have to take any pain killers. I have been doing some Physical therapy and have seen improvement in range of movement and strength. I do not understand what it is saying. Your opinion would be appreciated.

Here is my MRI report:
Examination reveals high grade partial bursal surface tearing of the supraspinatus and infraspinatus tendons. The majority of the tear involves approximately 50% of the tendon thickness in cross section diameter. Central to anteriorly there is a portion of the tear that goes up to approximately 90% of the tendon thickness in cross section diameter. In total the tearing measures 3.2 cm AP X 3.2 cm medial to lateral. The torn bursal surface fibers are retracted to the middle one third of the humeral head. There is no clear communication to the articular surface on this study. Moderate fluid in the subacromial/subdeltoid bursa. There possibly is a full-thickness component of the infraspinatus tendon fibers on an obloque course without significant retraction of the tendon edges. Mild subscapularis tendinosis. The teres minor tendon is intact.
No asymetric atrophy of the rotator cuff musculature.
There is inflammation tracking between the supraspinatus and infraspinatus musculature as well as throughout the infraspinatus musculature at the myotendinous junction.
Tear of the superior labrum with anterior and posterior extension consistent with a type II SLAP tear. Moderate tendonitis of the intraarticular portion of the long head of the biceps tendon without high grade tear or tendon subluxation.
The humera head is located in anatomic position with the glenoid. The remaining labral ligamentous complex is intact. No chondromalacia in the glenohumeral joint. Mildacromioclavicular joint arthrosis.

Hi dwalcott,

Welcome to the forum and thanks for your post!

If the tendons are still together, we can assist in the healing process. Our BFST products will help any partial tear or damaged soft tissue, and we must reiterate that any torn tendon that is two separate pieces requires surgery.

Tears in the 1%-60% tear range, our BFST products would definitely assist in the healing process, however a tear of 90%, or greater you should be seeking a surgeons advice, as you would most likely need surgery. On that note, our BFST products are a great asset to post surgery treatment, to improve blood flow to the treated area, and speed up your recovery time.

Not taking pain killers is great to hear, they can slow your bodies natural healing process greatly. Our ColdCure wraps would be great for any pain (and inflammation or swelling) you are experiencing and if you do decide to go the surgery route, both our ColdCure and BFST products work great pre and post surgery.

If you have any additional questions, feel free to contact us toll free at 1-888-661-5239, 7 days a week until midnight EST.

Thanks again for posting!

Hi dwalcott,

That's quite an injury you have there!  Good for you for avoiding pain killers.  Did your doctor recommend surgery?  If you've been healing, that's good, many people aren't able to heal this on their own.  Of course, many people don't take care of their injuries.  Be careful with your shoulder, don't push it and respect the pain.  Don't do what hurts.  Don't worry about atrophy (shrinking of the muscles from lack of use), its more important that you heal your tendons first.  You can rebuild the muscle later.

I like that you're trying to heal naturally first.  Give your body a fair chance at healing, but if you're not making headway, listen to your physician if he/she recommends surgery.  But you don't have to rush into it.

The BFST is our best product for helping with the healing process.  Even if you have surgery, the BFST can improve your post-surgical recovery.  Use it lots, even long after the pain goes away.  That shoulder will be healing for at least a year, even if the pain is gone after a couple months.  The longer you keep treating it, the more completely it will heal and the less likely you are to have problems later in life.

Please check back with us later and let us know how it goes.  People really appreciate seeing the results other real people have with their injuries.  Posting your experience can help others.

Thanks for your questions.
