Lisfranc injury
« on: October 02, 2014, 06:09:08 PM »
Hi I suffered from a lisfranc injury of the foot. I had surgery 4 weeks ago and 2 screws were placed. Foot is still a bit swollen and was unsure of when I should start using my bfst wrap?? Does it cause more swelling??? Thanks!

Hi Kareng88.

I would recommend continuing with your Cold therapy until the swelling and inflammation is completely gone. After the swelling is gone, you can begin your BFST treatments. If at any time you decide to start your BFST treatments, should you have any discomfort or if the inflammation and swelling re-arises, return to using cold therapy right away.

If swelling is present at the time of a BFST treatment, it is possible it will cause not only more swelling, but a discomfort due to the increase blood flow to the area.

We recommend performing BFST treatments directly against your skin (no compression stockings). Make sure you have at least 1 finger width in between your skin and the wrap.

If you have any more questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Kind regards,
Amber
