Treatment Questions / Using the BFST and ColdCure while staying active
« on: February 13, 2019, 11:48:54 AM »
While rest is the best option for recovery, some don't always have the option...or the want to stay still.  If you are continuing to stay active during your recovery from injury, incorporate your treatments around it.

Use BFST before.  This will help warm up the area internally and help prevent again over straining and be sure to get the ColdCure on after.  Inflammation acts like a barrier for good blood flow and if you put additional strain on the tissues, you need to reduce the inflammation to enable the blood to continuously get at the soft tissues to help heal and repair.

Don't forget to use KB Tape to support the area to help protect the tendons and ligaments from over extension.

Don't push yourself.  If what you are doing hurts, stop or modify.

If you have any questions about the use of the BFST and ColdCure when active, please contact our Customer Service Team toll free at 844-400-2525.

General Discussion / Re: Debunking Common Plantar Fasciitis Myths
« on: November 13, 2018, 07:19:05 PM »
Hi DwightRi,

Thanks for your question.

The ColdCure would be your first method of treatment to help with managing pain from an injury. Our ColdCure products offer cold compression to bring down inflammation/swelling and pain, and can be used for as long as needed.

Once your pain has been reduced, the BFST will help promote healing your injury. The best time to use BFST would be first thing when you wake up in the morning and the second best time would be before you go to bed. We recommend doing 2-4 BFST treatments in a day.

If you will be doing any sort of physical activity, do a BFST treatment before the activity and then use the ColdCure after you are done your activity.

If you have any more questions, please contact us via email or call us at 1-844-400-2525.

Regards,
Jennifer

General Discussion / Staying active with a Bakers Cyst
« on: October 25, 2018, 10:36:35 AM »
We have the discussion with many of our customers on how can continue staying active while dealing with their injury.  We always recommend to rest and not to push it.  The last thing you would want to do is re-injure or further aggravate the knee.  Keeping the inflammation down behind the knee is the best way the stimulated blood flow will effectively heal the underlying issue causing the cyst.

For those who continue to stay active, what are some of the exercises or modifications on exercises you recommend?

Swimming? Yoga?

Let us know your thoughts.

Questions & Answers About Our Products / Re: nerves
« on: September 05, 2018, 11:33:55 AM »
Hi mjwinslo,

We don't test our products specifically for nerve regeneration for the foot, having an increase in blood flow would not hurt in any way.

Keep in mind that if there is any loss of sensation in the foot we would advise against using the BFST as you would not be able to tell if the device was stimulating a gentle warming sensation, or if the BFST was too strong for your foot during application.

Keep in mind that all KingBrand purchases are 100% Risk Free, meaning that you are able to try them for yourself, and if you're not satisfied or are not getting the results that you expected, you're welcome to return them within our 30 day return window.

Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.

Regards,
Megan

General Discussion / Re: Debunking Common Plantar Fasciitis Myths
« on: August 30, 2018, 10:55:27 AM »
Hi Tender_Tendons,

I do agree that there is a LOT of misinformation on the internet, which is why we've dedicated a whole page to Myths that are commonly practiced. We hear from lots of customers who have been suffering with Plantar Fasciitis for months and months, and sometimes years - when you don't really have to!

Think of your Plantar Fascia as a piece of paper. When your Plantar Fascia is healthy with no damage to it, just like the paper, it's really hard to tear. Now when you have an injury to your Plantar Fascia, that is very small 'micro-tears'. When you put a small tear into the piece of paper, all of the sudden it is really easy to tear further.

Now you have to be careful that you don't continue tearing your Plantar Fascia, because just like the paper it's easy to tear further and lengthen your healing process.

This is exactly why we do not recommend stretching, orthotics or anything that's going to cause extra pressure on the bottom of your foot.

You're right, there's always two different views based on the same studies. So I hope that you read through all of this (I'm sorry I'm long winded) and the choice is always yours for what modality you choose. We've never stated that this is the ONLY way that you're going to heal, but merely the modality that makes the most sense when you look at how your body functions when you're injured and healthy. That is really what King Brand is about, supporting our customers and potential customers to heal in the best way that they choose.

Yes, your plantar is meant to be stretched and massaged. Stretching and massaging your Plantar Fascia ligament while it's healthy will always promote good blood flow and help prevent re-injury. Stretching and massaging while your injured will cause me to reference your tendon to a piece of paper again. It's very fragile in it's injured state.

Always work within pain boundaries. Your body is giving you pain, because it's telling you that you're working too hard and hurting it. Massaging and stretching with no pain is completely acceptable. While most doctors will tell you 'no pain no gain', this is not the correct approach. If you Massage and Stretch the pain away, you've essentially continued to tear the tendon further until there is no more pressure applied, which will temporarily give you relief until you rest again and your body starts healing.

Which is why all people suffering from Plantar Fasciitis hate those first few steps in the morning. They are painful because your body is trying to heal and those first few steps are tearing and undoing the healing from overnight.

The internet unfortunately is filled with so much mis-information, that when that inaccurate information becomes repeated enough it turns into law. With an ailment as prevalent as Plantar Fasciitis unfortunately this is the case.

I'm not saying that ALL orthotics are bad, some people do benefit from it. There are people with flat feet, or even with one leg slightly longer than the other that will absolutely benefit fromorthotics, but most people would benefit a lot more from a change in footwear. Women not wearing high heels, or shoes without proper support like flip-flop sandals will often suffer from Plantar Fasciitis at one time or another, but that doesn't mean it has to become chronic suffering. Othotics should be secondary to trying to find out what's causing the problem to persist.

Just last weekend, I enjoyed a long bike ride and was wearing sandals. The next morning I realized that I was suffering from a touch of Plantar Fasciitis. Changing up my footwear from my sandals without support to a lace up shoe that had a lot better support caused my mild case of Plantar Fasciitis to go away in 2-3 days as well as moderate use of Cold to help reduce the inflammation.

I wish you the best in your recovery with your Plantar Fasciitis, and we are here to help you through the healing process.

Always remember that purchasing anything off of our website is a 100% Risk Free Purchase as all of our products come with a 30 day money back guarantee. The reason we give 30 days is because within those 30 days, by developing a routine with our BFST and ColdCure Plantar Wraps, you should start to see some positive results. The key is consistency though. 3-4 treatments a day with the treatment first thing in the morning, and right before you go to bed being the two most important treatments.

You will always have our support too. You're more than welcome to call us any time and we can provide assistance in treating your Plantar Fasciitis as effectively and quickly as possible.

Again, I'm sorry that I'm so long winded, but there is soo much information that I thought important for you to read.

Best regards,
Megan

Hi there,

General Discussion / Re: Baker Cysts
« on: January 31, 2018, 01:17:23 PM »
Hi Drrandy51, Thanks for your enquiry.

As you've had the Bakers Cyst for so long, you may want to follow-up with your doctor to find out why the cyst has remained a constant golf-ball size. Often times medical professionals may recommend intervention for Bakers Cysts (such as drainage of fluid), plus usage of cold / ice to reduce inflammation and swelling behind the knee is usually also recommended.
- If you tend to notice an increase in swelling post-activity, you will likely benefit from using cold therapy when this occurs; to help reduce the new swelling and inflammation.
- Cold therapy may even help you right now, to target the underlying inflammation you may not necessarily be aware of behind the knee.

A Bakers Cyst is usually a symptom of an underlying condition in the knee itself (often a meniscus tear or injury). As far as the BFST is concerned, this can be used to harness faster recovery and healing by improving blood flow and circulation - it doesn't matter how new or mature the issue is. We advocate for using the BFST when underlying inflammation and swelling is under control. Using the BFST too soon (with these symptoms) won't cause any harm or further injury, however, the body would become quite hot during a treatment - signifying that the blood flow is being overstimulated and there's nowhere for the additional blood flow to be delivered to.
- The BFST isn't a heating pad, therefore, heat is not a desirable effect. The sensation experienced during a BFST treatment should be a very minor warming (and some people feel a bit of tingling); this is how your body is responding to improvement of blood flow in the targeted area.

We would be more than happy to further discuss your health concerns in relation to usage of Cold and BFST - Please call us toll free on 1844-400-2525 :)

Treatment Questions / Re: ruptured acl and meniscus
« on: October 26, 2017, 05:14:16 PM »
Hi Frithjov:

I would like to thank you for contacting us on our forum, and I'm sorry for the pain that you're experiencing at the moment!

There's a couple of things that I would like to address. Sharp pains and clicking could mean that you could have potentially re-injured yourself, and I suggest that you make a call to your physician and address the clicking and pain that you are feeling.

As for the stiffness, numbness and swelling you are feeling in your knee, the ColdCure wrap is what you will want to focus on for the next while to target the inflammation as that will alleviate most of those symptoms.

Once the swelling, and inflammation are under control, the BFST will continue with your recovery. The BFST is extremely safe to use regardless of any hardware that they have placed in your knee as it meets very high standards of quality, safety and efficacy.

As we have so much information spread all across our website, I encourage you to read  our page on: Knee Pain Treatment

I would encourage you to call our Treatment Advisors to help you through every step of your treatments by calling us at 844-400-2525.

Best regards,
King Brand

Treatment Questions / Re: Ultra sound therapy
« on: October 03, 2017, 06:37:24 PM »
Hi there LilacsinSpring,

The concept of Ultra Sound therapy is the same as BFST, in terms of stimulating blood flow in and around the affected area.

If you're having Ultra Sound treatments in a clinic or hospital environment this should be beneficial. In-home Ultra Sound devices unfortunately have very low output levels, so they're safe for the consumer to use, but unfortunately this makes hand-held in-home treatments ineffective.

Once you've completed your sessions of Ultra Sound, you may want to consider ordering the BFST so you can continue with improved blood flow levels to maintain faster healing and recovery. Our BFSTs are registered medical devices (with Health Canada and the FDA) so our claims have been validated and, as you'll see from the Testimonials on our website, we have thousands of happy customers.

Again, feel free to contact us toll free on 1844-400-2525 if we can be of any assistance. Good luck with your treatments!!

Treatment Questions / Re: BFST stimulating blood flow
« on: October 03, 2017, 06:22:21 PM »
Hi again LilacsinSpring,

Before starting your BFST treatments we recommend ensuring that your symptoms of inflammation and swelling are under control. Pain accompanies these symptoms, but pain may still be present at times throughout the early stages of the healing process too.

The reason you want to reduce your inflammation and swelling before starting BFST is so that the body is able to accept the additional blood flow that will be sent to the targeted area. The body can't begin healing until symptoms are addressed.
- During a BFST treatment you should only experience minor warming, and some people feel tingling. You should NOT feel heat.
- If you feel heat or any kind of discomfort (including pain) during a BFST treatment you may be over-stimulating blood flow. If this occurs you should decrease your treatment level (ie. from Level 2 to 1 on the Controller), but if there's heat on Level 1 you can try decreasing the treatment time from the pre-set 20 minutes to perhaps 10 minutes. If heat is still experienced, this is your body's way of indicating that cold therapy needs to be resumed as your symptoms still require attention.
- After focusing on cold therapy for another day or so, you can introduce BFST again and should find that you can then continue with the recommended 3 to 4 BFST treatments spread across the course of the day, without any discomfort, pain or heat.

As mentioned in our previous posting, even once you are doing regular BFST treatments you still need to use cold therapy after activity, to keep any underlying symptoms at bay and to stop them from returning.

If you think your symptoms are under control, why not try your first BFST session... You won't cause any further injury to your Plantar Fasciitis just a negative sensation if it's too soon, in which case you can simply unplug the BFST and continue using your ColdCure Wrap. Feel free to call us toll free on 1844-400-2525 should you have any questions or concerns now or after you've tried the BFST.
