Bursitis is typically a reaction triggered by some sort of underlying injury or condition. This could be anything from a partial muscle tear to arthritis to an old injury that never quite healed in the past. This underlying injury may get re-aggravated or flared up, and cause your body to overcompensate, and produce too much synovial fluid. This synovial fluid goes into one of the many bursae you have all over your body and causes the pain and swelling associated with bursitis.

The best way to tell what kind of injury may be triggering your bursitis is to have a MRI, which should show any sort of soft tissue damage. You can use the ColdCure and the BFST to treat both your bursitis, and the condition that is aggravating your bursa.

The BFST can provide significant pain relief whether you're dealing with rheumatoid or osteoarthritis. The BFST unfortunately can't heal the arthritis itself, but it creates an increase in blood flow that strengthens the muscles, tendons, and ligaments in the entire area that you treat, while providing symptomatic pain relief from arthritis.

BFST treatments are a gentle sort of therapy - you can expect to feel a slight warming sensation. Some people also feel a very slight tingling due to the increase in circulation, but not everybody feels tingling.

The BFST creates an increase in blood flow that lasts for four hours after each 20 minute treatment - we recommend doing 3-4 treatments daily, spaced four hours apart.

After your surgery, you should use the ColdCure for 20 minutes on, and 20 minutes off, as much as you are comfortable with. The cold will reduce swelling, inflammation, and pain in general, which is very important after having any sort of surgery.

Once you see a definite decrease in pain and swelling, and once any incisions have had a chance to heal, you can start using the BFST. It's best to  begin your treatment with 20 minutes of using the ColdCure to reduce your inflammation. Then, allow your skin to come back to body temperature, and apply the BFST. You can repeat this process every four hours, until you've done 3-4 treatments per day.

The BFST and the ColdCure can be used to speed up your recovery time after surgery, and to strengthen the soft tissue in the whole area you treat.

Treatment Questions / Re: Is there a BFST for the neck?
« on: March 28, 2024, 04:49:35 PM »
While we do not specifically have a BFST that is designed to treat the neck, we do recommend using the Wrist BFST to treat the neck area. The Wrist BFST is about 13 inches long, so it will be able to treat most of the neck at once. It attaches using velcro and is easy to put on and remove.

Treatment Questions / Re: Ways to make KB Tape come off easily?
« on: March 21, 2024, 02:44:59 PM »
The KB Tape is designed to stay on for 1-3 days per application. If the adhesive on the tape gets a little too sticky on your skin, you can apply an oil based product, like vaseline or coconut oil, around the edges and that should help it lift up more easily. You can also take it off in the bath or shower using warm water.

Treatment Questions / Re: Can I use the Knee BFST to treat my wrist?
« on: March 15, 2024, 01:15:38 PM »
Yes! You can use your BFST to treat different body parts. As long as the electronic pad inside of the wrap is positioned directly on the area where you're having pain, you can treat other body parts effectively.

Our Back/Hip BFST is the most versatile wrap available and can be used to treat almost any body part. It has an effective treatment area of 10" x 7" and can wrap around up to 52 inches total. If you're dealing with multiple injuries, this one wrap can treat anywhere on the body.

One main difference is that the ColdCure is a FDA-approved, Class 1 registered medical device. It is designed using hypoallergenic, quality, hospital grade materials.

The ColdCure is made using a specific, proprietary type of gel called Rigigel. Rigigel is designed to hold 3x as much cold as pharmacy gel packs, and it has the ability to pull the cold from all parts of the pack, which lessens any "hot spots" on the gel pack that may form, and makes it stay colder for longer than other gel packs.

Rigigel also holds its form and does not move around inside of the pack. It has been compared to ice made of rubber, and conforms to the area that you treat. It is designed to be the best cold treatment available!

Treatment Questions / Re: Knee Replacement Surgery
« on: March 08, 2024, 05:16:49 PM »
Hi Rburke,

Thanks for your question! Following surgery, it's a good idea to use cold therapy until you notice a definite decrease in pain and swelling, and any incisions have had a chance to close up so that they are not an open wound anymore. Once you see a noticeable decrease in pain and swelling, that indicates that your inflammation has decreased - the less inflammation you have, the more effective the BFST will be.

You can also use cold therapy prior to your BFST treatments - typically you can start with 20 minutes of cold, then allow your skin to warm back up to body temperature, and then apply the BFST for 20 minutes. It's best if there's at least 4 hours of space in between BFST treatments, but you can repeat that process as it fits with your schedule until you've done it 3-4 times daily.

I hope this helps! Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Treatment Questions / Re: Which wrap should I use to treat the metatarsals?
« on: February 23, 2024, 05:29:29 PM »
We recommend using the Wrist BFST and/or ColdCure to treat the metatarsals. The Wrist wraps are more versatile, and are able to be wrapped around any part of the foot. The Wrist wrap can go around up to 13 inches and fastens using velcro. You can find more information at the link below.

The BFST works by producing electromagnetic energy, and it produces multiple frequencies of that energy during each 20 minute treatment cycle. This is why you may feel varying amounts of warmth coming from the wrap even though you use it on the same level. This is totally normal for how the BFST functions.

The ColdCure gel packs do have one white colored side, and one tan colored side, but there is no difference between them. You may use either side interchangeably - the difference in color has no impact on your treatment. Either side may face down against your skin.

Treatment Questions / Re: Do I need KB Tape or KB Wide Tape?
« on: February 02, 2024, 01:18:19 PM »
The difference between KB Tape and KB Wide Tape is in the width of the tape.

KB Wide Tape is 3 inches wide and is recommended for larger groups of muscles, such as the back, shoulder, or hamstring.

KB Tape is 2 inches wide and is recommended for the foot, hand, arm, wrist, calves, any area of the body that does not have larger groups of muscles.

Treatment Questions / Re: How many accessory straps do I need?
« on: January 26, 2024, 04:03:21 PM »
The Accessory Strap will extend the length of your BFST or ColdCure by about 9-10 inches.

The knee wraps have two velcro attachment straps, so two accessory straps are recommended. For the Back/Hip wraps, one accessory strap should be sufficient. If you're uncertain, please reach out to our customer service!

It is a common misconception that stretching or exercises such as rolling your foot on a frozen water bottle can be beneficial when dealing with plantar fasciitis. In actuality, the plantar fascia is not meant to stretch. Stretching can lead to further tearing, which lengthens your recovery time and can lead to increased pain.

You should wait to do any sort of physical therapy or exercises until your injury has had time to heal. Stretching will not help plantar fasciitis to heal. When your pain has mostly gone away and you're not having flare-ups, that's an indication that you're about 30% healed. At this point, it's ok to start doing some gentle activity. Remember, if you feel any increase in pain or discomfort, that can be a sign that your injury is being aggravated. It's best to not push through the pain - instead, apply cold therapy and rest until your pain decreases.

You can find more information about what to do, and what not to do for plantar fasciitis at the link below.

The meniscus is an area that does not naturally receive a lot of blood flow. When you have any sort of soft tissue injury, it is vital to have the maximum amount of blood flow in the injured area to keep it nourished, and remove waste. That's where the BFST can help - it produces electromagnetic energy, which increases circulation around the meniscus. The synovial fluid that surrounds your knee acts as a carrier for the oxygen and nutrients from the increased circulation, getting the benefits of the improved blood flow directly to the source of your pain, and helping it to heal. By using the BFST 3-4 times daily, you can heal a partially torn meniscus over time without having surgery.
