Rotator Cuff Injury Treatment

Healing Solutions
For Serious Rotator Cuff Injuries

You CAN reduce the pain and swelling
You CAN heal quickly and naturally
You simply need the RIGHT treatment

Two Super Important Facts:

Two Super Important Facts

When suffering from a Rotator Cuff Injury, braces to help immobilize your injury are often recommended by doctors.

However, Rotator Cuff Braces will not work for every injury, and it's important to know which injuries need to be immobilized and which require movement to prevent painful conditions like Frozen Shoulder.

Rotator Cuff Braces for complete immobilization require a custom fit in order to be comfortable and effective.

How to Heal Your Rotator Cuff

King Brand Shoulder Wrap

A torn Rotator Cuff is a prime example of a condition that involves chronic
re-injury. This re-injury can occur if your arm is placed under even the smallest of loads or if you attempt to stretch the newly healed and still fragile shoulder tissue. Even minor movements in the wrong direction will make your situation worse. Many days of healing can be wiped out by a momentary motion in the wrong direction. You know that sudden sharp pain all too well, and every time you feel it you are setting back the clock on healing.

(Click here for a detailed explanation of how your body heals).

Thankfully, King Brand® has just what you need to provide light immobilization, stop the pain and speed up the healing process. These products are the Accessory Sling, ColdCure® Shoulder Wrap, BFST® Shoulder Wrap and KB Support Tape. Our Tape can help support your injury through any activity, no matter how minor.

The Ultimate Solution:

If you really want to get better, here's exactly what you need to do.

  • Wear a ColdCure® Wrap as much as possible to relieve your pain and swelling and protect your Rotator Cuff from further damage.
  • Do a BFST® treatment first thing every morning. Do 2 or 3 more BFST® treatments throughout the day. This will help you heal quickly.
  • Avoid re-straining the injury as much as possible. The Accessory Sling can help with this by immobilizing your shoulder and arm. You should also use KB Tape to provide your shoulder with extra support and protection.

Do this and your Rotator Cuff can truly heal - finally.

Blood Flow Is Essential For Healing

Improved Blood Flow with BFST

Stop wasting time on treatments that don't work. You don't have to suffer for months on end. You don't have to resort to invasive surgery. You can heal your Rotator Cuff. You just need the right treatment. Blood Flow Stimulation Therapy® (BFST®) works to actively heal soft tissue injuries by promoting blood flow deep below the skin. This is exactly what your Rotator Cuff needs to heal quickly and completely.

In order for the body to heal itself, it needs a steady flow of nutrient-rich, oxygenated blood. Unfortunately, an injured shoulder at rest will have very little blood flow, which limits the body's ability to heal. While physical activity promotes blood flow, it can lead to further injury and a lengthened recovery time. The BFST® Wrap is the perfect solution. BFST® treatments bring additional blood flow to your injury while you're at rest, so you can avoid re-injury and heal your damaged tissue at the same time.

BFST® Devices are Electrical Medical Appliances that
actively stimulate blood flow in injured tissue.

BFST® devices help heal soft tissue.

BFST® stimulates blood flow through the Rotator Cuff while you are at rest. This is very important because, while at rest, an unaided and inflamed Rotator Cuff can otherwise have seriously impeded blood flow. It is the oxygen and nutrient-rich blood that enables the healing process, so adequate blood flow is required for the Rotator Cuff to heal properly and quickly.

BFST® treatments are very pleasant and relaxing. People often notice a slight tingling sensation and warmth deep in their shoulder as a result of the increase in blood flow. We recommend 3-4 BFST® treatments per day for optimal results. Since the effects of each 20 minute treatment last for up to 4 hours afterwards, it's best to spread your treatments out over the course of the day. An ideal treatment regimen would be one treatment first thing in the morning, another treatment in the afternoon, a treatment in the evening, and the last treatment of the day right before bed.

Almost as important as the promotion of blood flow is the reminder of your injury. The reminder is what helps you move with care so you don't overdo it and end up making your Rotator Cuff Injury worse. Avoiding re-injury is fundamental to rapid recovery. This is why we recommend you keep wearing your BFST® Wrap between treatments. When your treatment ends, simply unplug the controller and gently tighten the wrap to your shoulder. This will provide your injured Rotator Cuff with light support and protection between treatments.

Dealing With Pain

Avoid Painkillers

Rotator Cuff Injuries can be extremely painful and debilitating. NSAIDs and analgesics such as ASA, acetaminophen or ibuprofen are often used to treat the pain but these drugs do nothing to treat the injury itself. In fact, NSAIDs and analgesics are known blood thinners and make the bleeding worse for fresh tissue injuries. Typical pain medications actually interfere with the healing process. Cortisone injections are used in extreme cases but these too are intended to address the pain. They do not promote healing of the injury and they put you at a very high risk of further injury.

Painkillers are BAD, Not Good

Pain pills only mask the pain. They don't do anything to heal your Rotator Cuff. Painkillers can make you feel a false sense of ability since they block the pain signal, and this can lead to further damage. If you need to take painkillers, try to restrict them to times of rest. You can use painkillers to help you sleep. Taking painkillers when you are active will only make things worse.

Avoid the dangers of painkillers. Use a ColdCure® Shoulder Wrap from King Brand®. ColdCure® Wraps are the safest and most effective pain reliever. They do a superior job without the negative aspects of painkillers. ColdCure® Wraps also work faster than painkillers. You will feel the cool, soothing relief of ColdCure® as soon as you apply the wrap to your shoulder. With painkillers, you have to wait for 20 minutes until the effects kick in.

ColdCure® Devices Reduce Pain and Swelling.

ColdCure® Devices are NOT typical cold or ice packs.

For dealing with the swelling and pain that comes with a Rotator Cuff Injury, nothing works better than cold and compression.

ColdCure® technology was developed specifically to address the need for a cold compression device that does not freeze the skin and underlying tissue. Our gel packs pose no threat of cold burns. This makes them much safer to use than other products that use ice, which can cause the skin to freeze, leading to permanent damage. ColdCure® gel packs are completely safe to use for extended treatment durations, meaning faster relief of pain and swelling. Our ColdCure® technology is a huge improvement on regular ice packs.

ColdCure® Shoulder Wraps come with 3 swappable gel packs that contain our unique XC RigiGel® formula. Our gel is firm yet flexible, unlike other gel formulas that are watery and mushy. This means the gel holds its form and doesn't flow away from your Rotator Cuff. It won't move, even under heavy pressure for long periods of time. It always stays in place to relieve your pain and swelling. The gel packs are inserted inside the wrap one at a time, so you can have the other two charging in the freezer to keep your cold therapy going. Do your ColdCure® treatments in 20 minute intervals throughout the day, or as long as you need the relief.

Top or Side Shoulder?

Top and Side Shoulder Coverage Zones

We have two different Shoulder Wraps that target two different areas. It all depends on where your Rotator Cuff Injury is located. Rotator Cuff injuries are tricky, as it depends on which part of the Rotator Cuff is injured. The Top Shoulder Wrap covers your scapula, collar bone, rotator cuff and the top of your deltoid. The Side Shoulder Wrap covers your deltoid, rotator cuff and the upper portion of your bicep. Pay attention to where the pain is. Is it closer to the "top" or the "side"? Take a look at the coverage zone image to the right to determine which wrap would best target your injury.

Accessory Sling to Immobilize Your Shoulder

If you want your Rotator Cuff to heal as quickly as possible, you need to try to immobilize it as much as you can. Immobilizing the Rotator Cuff is extremely difficult though, as even the smallest movements can lead to further damage. That's why we designed the Accessory Sling. The Accessory Sling can be attached to your BFST® or ColdCure® Shoulder Wrap, to help immobilize your shoulder and arm. Limiting movement of the injured area helps to prevent re-injury and greatly contributes to a faster healing time.

The Accessory Sling also does a great job of taking the weight of your arm off your injured shoulder. Taking the tension off your shoulder is a huge relief, and also helps to further prevent re-injury.

The Accessory Sling is completely customizable to suit your specific needs and can stick anywhere on your Shoulder Wrap. You can wear it on your right or left arm for complete immobilization of your shoulder. This is a unique product as it allows you to have your arm in a sling while you treat your shoulder with blood flow or cold therapy at the same time.

Please note that the Accessory Sling cannot be used on its own or with any products other than the BFST® and ColdCure® Shoulder Wraps.

Protect Your Shoulder Between Treatments

When you're not doing treatments with your BFST® or ColdCure® Wrap, your injured tissue is vulnerable to further damage. You don't want to re-injure your fragile tissue and make your Rotator Cuff injury worse. Apply KB Support Tape between your BFST® and ColdCure® treatments to provide your Rotator Cuff with extra support and protection.

Our skin is soft and elastic and can stretch much more than the tissue underneath. When you apply KB Support Tape to your skin, it becomes a much more rigid surface than before, serving to limit how much the skin can stretch. The Tape makes your skin a source of outside support to hold your tissue in place, helping you avoid re-injury. That's why we call it armor for your injury.

KB Support Tape - Use All Day During Work & Play

KB Support Tape comes in 2 different sizes: 2 inch wide and 3 inch wide. The 2 inch wide variety is ideal for smaller areas (Foot, Wrist), while the 3 inch wide style is better for larger areas (Back, Shoulder). This also works for your size. Bigger people will prefer the 3 inch wide Tape, while smaller people will prefer the 2 inch wide Tape.

The Pre-Cut Strips of KB Support Tape are perfect for people who want tape that's quick and easy. Since they're already cut into ready-to-use strips, you can apply and go! Each roll of Pre-Cut KB Support Tape contains 20 individual strips. Each Pre-Cut Strip is 2 inches wide and 10 inches long.

While we found the above taping applications effective for Rotator Cuff Injuries, they're only a suggestion. We encourage you to experiment with different applications for Rotator Cuff Injuries to find the one that works best for you. Use the pain as a guide when taping. If you feel pain in a specific area of your shoulder, apply the Tape there.

The Medical Tape Advantage

What sets KB Support Tape apart from other tapes? It's not athletic tape, it's medical tape. This means our Tape is manufactured to ISO 10993 standards, which ensures that our Tape is made from extremely safe, biocompatible materials. Our Tape is actually made from materials that are safer than those used to make most baby products, including toys, clothes and even diapers. Don't let the big brand tapes fool you. Most of them are made from toxic materials, because there are no standards for athletic tape. Some big brand tape glues even contain carcinogenic ingredients. At King Brand®, your health and safety is of utmost importance, which is why KB Support Tape is manufactured to such high standards.

Combination Therapy BFST® + ColdCure® Treatments

BFST® for Rapid Healing
ColdCure® for Pain & Swelling
KB Tape to Prevent Re-Injury

Combination Therapy means using ColdCure® and BFST® in combination by alternating treatments, as well as using KB Support Tape between your treatments. Combination Therapy is much more effective than using just one treatment or the other. This is because you're getting the pain and swelling relief of ColdCure®, the healing benefits of BFST®, and the protection and re-injury prevention of KB Support Tape, resulting in the absolute best treatment for your Rotator Cuff Injury.

Step 1

Use the ColdCure® Wrap several times a day to help reduce not only the visible swelling you may see on the surface, but also the inflammation you may have and cannot see, deep down in the soft tissue.

Any time you're unable to do a ColdCure® treatment, apply KB Support Tape to your Rotator Cuff. This will provide your Rotator Cuff with compression and will protect it from re-injury.

Step 2

Combination Therapy

Avoid using the BFST® Wrap until your inflammation and swelling has subsided. Start your BFST® treatments on Level 1. For maximum benefit, please take into consideration that each 20 minute treatment optimizes your blood circulation for an average of 4 hours. We recommend 3-4 treatments daily, spread throughout the day. During the day, do a BFST® treatment every 4 hours or before any type of physical activity. This can include anything that puts a strain on your Rotator Cuff (reaching, lifting, etc). This can also be used for preventative measures after a full recovery to optimize your blood flow.

Apply KB Support Tape to your Rotator Cuff between your BFST® treatments. Do your first BFST® treatment of the day before you apply the Tape and do the last treatment of the day after the Tape has been removed.

Step 3

Do a ColdCure® treatment any time you experience a pain flare-up or after any physical activity to prevent further injury and reduce swelling and inflammation. Follow with another BFST® treatment 30-45 minutes after your ColdCure® treatment. This time will allow your blood flow and body temperature to regulate again. Refrain from using ColdCure® within the 4 hours following your 20 minute BFST® treatment. This will counteract the treatment. If necessary, use the ColdCure® Wrap for pain control, then follow up with another BFST® treatment.

Medical Function - BFST® Wrap - Accelerated Healing

As an FDA Registered Class II medical device, the BFST® Wrap meets very high standards of quality, safety and efficacy. In order to keep you safe and ensure effective treatments, the BFST® device complies with hundreds of pages of regulations and standards. Even though BFST® Wraps are high quality medical grade devices, they are still available to the public to buy and use at home, just like lower quality consumer goods.

The Blood Flow Stimulation Therapy® (BFST®) Wrap is designed to promote blood flow in injured tissue below the dermal (fat and skin) layer. Utilizing our proprietary Energy Web®, specially controlled and incredibly safe levels of EMR energy envelops your injured Rotator Cuff and stimulates blood flow in the soft tissue deep beneath the skin. The resulting stimulation brings oxygen and nutrient-rich blood to the injured area, accelerating the healing process.

BFST® Wraps come with a 3 level power controller. Everyone should start their treatments on Level 1 and work their way through the levels gradually as they heal. Proceeding immediately to Level 2 or 3 will not speed up your healing time. You need to condition the body first.

During your first treatments on Level 1, your Rotator Cuff and the area surrounding it will feel quite warm. This is because, at first, your circulation is poor. The more treatments you do, the less warming sensation you will feel. This is good. As the warmth lessens from treatment to treatment, this is an indication that the circulation in your shoulder is improving. Better circulation means more blood flow all the time, not just during treatments. This is the goal. When you feel very little warmth during a treatment, it is time to move up to the next power level. Don't rush it though, more heat does not mean better treatment. In fact, less heat means better treatment, so take your time moving up in levels.

BFST® Wraps are the heating pads of the future. Instead of bringing blood to the surface of your skin like a heating pad, BFST® stimulates blood flow in the soft tissue deep below your skin. Heating the surface of your skin makes it hot to the touch, but doesn't help to heal your injury. The additional blood flow provided by the BFST® Wrap works to actively heal soft tissue. Most people reach for heating pads when they have a soft tissue injury, thinking this will heal them, when what they really need is a BFST® Wrap.

The Energy Web® of the BFST® Shoulder devices comes inserted inside a soft, comfortable neoprene wrap. The wrap shapes the Energy Web® to mold around either the Top or the Side of your shoulder. This will ensure there is an even distribution of energy over the injured area. The Shoulder Wrap comes with attachable straps to help you achieve a perfect fit. No matter your size, you can find the right fit for your body. The Shoulder Wrap is designed to be worn between treatments to provide snug support and protection for your injured shoulder.

Complete the Healing Process

Even once your pain is gone, your Rotator Cuff may only be 20% to 30% healed. The healing process takes much longer than most people realize. (You can click here for the the full story). The key thing to remember is that long after the pain stops, your Rotator Cuff is still healing. That's why you need to keep doing BFST® treatments. Do a BFST® treatment prior to any physical activity you do. This will warm up your circulatory system. If you want to heal completely, do regular BFST® treatments for several months after the pain is gone. You should also continue using KB Support Tape to help prevent re-injury.

Medical Function - ColdCure® Wrap - Extreme Pain Relief

The ColdCure® Shoulder Wrap is a medical grade cold compression wrap designed for home use. Cold and compression applied to an injured Rotator Cuff immediately reduces the risk of further damage from excessive swelling. Doctors and Therapists agree that controlling swelling is a fundamental part of reducing long-term permanent damage resulting from soft tissue injuries. As an FDA Registered Class I medical device, the ColdCure® Wrap exceeds all government and health agency regulatory requirements for cold therapy, specifically for use in treating soft tissue injuries.

ColdCure® RigiGel® packs are much safer and more effective than ice and products that use gooey blue gel. Why? Because RigiGel® packs are like ice, but they stay at 32°F / 0°C. While they may start at about -4°F / -20°C straight from the freezer, ColdCure Safe Temperature after a few minutes they will go to 32°F / 0°C and stay at 32°F / 0°C for a long time. This is the ideal temperature for cold therapy, because it's cold enough to relieve your pain and swelling, but safe enough to not cause cold burns. Ice and blue gel packs will also start out at -4°F / -20°C and rapidly go to 32°F / 0°C, but then they will quickly warm up instead of staying in the safe, effective zone of 32°F / 0°C. The XC Gel® danger zone is very small, but the benefits are huge.

While XC Gel® packs are designed to be stored in the freezer, you can store them in the fridge if you find them too cold from the freezer. Not all freezers are the same. If you find that the gel is too stiff from the freezer, leave it out for several minutes before inserting it inside the wrap. When the pack is soft enough to bend, it's ready to use for treatment.

Rest Cold Compression Elevation

Most people think that RICE - Rest, Ice, Compression & Elevation - is the correct formula to follow when treating a soft tissue injury. The truth is that ice can freeze your skin and numb your nerves, causing 'cold burns' and even permanent damage to your underlying tissue. The proper solution is RCCE® - Rest, Cold, Compression & Elevation. We don't want to apply ice, we want to apply cold that is just above freezing. Yes, you want cold - and lots of it - but not so cold that it is below the freezing point of water.

ColdCure® gel packs contain 3x more gel per lb than ordinary products. This means superior coverage of your Rotator Cuff injury. When stored in the freezer, our gel packs also have 10x more cooling power than other products. This means longer treatment times without having to swap the gel packs as often. It also means faster relief from pain and swelling. Bigger packs with more gel inside plus maximum cooling power means an overall better, more effective treatment.

Our ColdCure® Shoulder gel packs are specifically designed for the Top and the Side of the shoulder. They mold comfortably to the injured area to ensure there is an even distribution of cooling power over the Rotator Cuff. We don't just use one generic shaped gel pack with all of our products. Every part of the body is uniquely shaped, which is why all of our gel packs are uniquely shaped too. These products have 100% been designed to treat Rotator Cuff Injuries.

Both the Top Shoulder Wrap and the Side Shoulder Wrap come with 3 Extension Straps that you can attach to customize the fit of your wrap. This makes it easy to find the right fit for your unique body shape. Some people won't need much extension, while some people will need more, which is why we include a Small Strap, a Medium Strap and a Large Strap with every style of Shoulder Wrap. This means our Shoulder Wraps can fit up to a very large person all the way down to a very small person, as well as everyone in-between.

Unique XC RigiGel® Formula

While regular gel packs are notorious for having hot and cold spots, our unique XC RigiGel® packs distribute the cold energy evenly throughout the entire gel pack. When cold pressure is applied to a Rotator Cuff injury, the gel starts to warm up in that specific spot faster than the rest of the pack. The cold energy in our gel packs is transferred from the cold spots to the warm spots much more effectively. This is a valuable improvement as sore, painful shoulder will receive an even and consistent cold treatment, every time. The temperature-balancing power of this gel formula is unmatched.

XC Gel® packs have 2 different colored sides: a white side and a gold side. Both sides will provide you with all the same benefits that our high performance XC RigiGel® has to offer. The XC Gel® pack can be inserted inside the wrap with the white side facing towards your shoulder or away from your shoulder since they're not side specific.
